This 4 Days Mountain Gorillas & Golden Monkeys in Rwanda take a breather in the jungle; a sigh of relief and reunion with your closest relatives, the endangered mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat – Volcanoes national park in the northern part of Rwanda. Rwanda is a safe beautiful haven for mountain gorillas, flora and fauna, decorated by undulating hills and a profusion of a lush green plantation.
You will encounter the apes with over 98% similar genes as that of humans and one of the most beautiful and swift monkeys on planet earth – the charming golden monkeys. The beauty of Rwanda is revealed from the very first time of arrival to the last hour of departure, enjoy the captivating landscapes, lush plantations and cool weather. You will do Mountain gorillas & golden monkeys trekking in Volcanoes national park, Musanze caves and a city tour. We will pick you up and drop you off at Kigali international airport.
Day 1: Pickup, Genocide memorial site visit and travel to Volcanoes National Park
After arriving at Kigali international airport, you will be picked up by our expert driver guide for a remarkable drive to the northern part of Rwanda-Volcanoes national park; starting with a visit to the Genocide Memorial site in Kigali, a place where over 250,000 Tutsi were buried after the 1994 ethnic conflict.
You will have yummy lunch meal in town before hitting the road to Volcanoes national park, home to a quarter of the total endangered mountain Gorilla population. The drive to the park is through a very magnificent terrain decorated with undulating hills, flourishing plantations and happy natives. You will check in to the park late in the evening for registration and then to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking
Start your morning with an early hefty cup of coffee at the lodge, and then head to the park headquarters for the start of your lifetime adventure. The park rangers will welcome and brief you about the trekking rules, as well as allocating members to the different gorilla families. Gorillas are full-time at the park, but you will have to track them, visiting where they were seen the previous day, t where they are suspected to be feeding or resting as the park ranger leads the trek.
All trekkers follow the Rhythm of the jungle and spend up to a maximum of one hour with a habituated group of gorillas, observing their unique behaviors and taking photos. Gorilla trekking is open to everyone globally, done for approximately 1-8 hours depending on the trekking speed.
After the encounter, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and then spend the evening at Leisure; with an opportunity for an optional Musanze cave exploration; before retiring at the lodge late in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and Cultural tour
After a hefty breakfast early morning, you will depart the lodge with some snacks and water among others for briefing and registration by the park rangers at the park headquarters. Golden monkeys are very beautiful and playful monkeys, skipping from one tree branch to another as they play and feed on foliage.
Trekking these creatures requires a real dedication of attention, and swiftness while taking photos and watching. After spending an hour with these monkeys, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then followed by an optional cultural experience with the surrounding communities who will entertain you with interesting stories and local dances. At sunset return to the lodge for dinner and a nap.
Day 4: Return to Kigali. City Tour and departure
After greeting your intestines with a yummy breakfast meal at the lodge; what follows is checking out for a rewarding 2-3 hour drive to Kigali city for a brief city tour, visiting the local markets to purchase a few souvenirs. Thereafter, have lunch in the city and then proceed to Kigali international airport. This will mark the end of your 4 Days Mountain Gorillas & Golden Monkeys in Rwanda.
