4 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari
This 4 days Uganda Gorilla Safari takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for gorilla trekking experience, which gives you 1 hour to spend with gorillas in their natural habitat. This trip helps to contribute towards conservation and protection of gorillas and their habitats while supporting the local communities. In addition to gorillas, you will take a village walk and explore the local ways of living including the culture of Batwa pygmies, the forest’s original inhabitants.
You will travel by light aircraft with road transfers in between Entebbe and Bwindi in the south west Uganda.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by a Travel Time driver guide. Then transferred to the hotel in Entebbe to spend the night. If you have time, you can go for a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria at extra cost.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Early in the morning at 6:30 a.m, your guide will pick you up and drive you to the airport and take a flight to Kihihi airstrip in Buhoma northern Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (south west Uganda). The flight will last for 1 hour and the road transfer from the airstrip is 40 km (1-hour 14 min drive) to the lodge, your base for gorilla tracking. For the next two nights, lunch, dinner, and breakfast are included.
Gorilla trekking can be challenging due to the nature of terrain. Ensure to prepare your hiking gears and items that you will use during the trek such as insect repellent and hiking shoes. Charge your camera batteries and carry extra if you have any.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking and village walk
Gorilla trekking shall begin at 7:30 am after breakfast, your guide will lead you to the visitor center for registration. The Uganda Wildlife rangers will meet you at the briefing on gorilla rules and regulations. The purpose of the briefing is to get you acquainted with the gorilla families and what it takes to visit them. After that the guides will then guide you through the forest. Searching for gorillas can last from 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on their location. Once gorillas are found, you will spend 1 hour observing how they feed and interact. You will hike back to the center where you will be awarded a Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla tracking certificate after which you settle for lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, you may go for a village walk which lasts from 1 to 3 hours depending on how far you wish to go. The community offers opportunities to explore and discover the local ways of living including the fire making activity of the Batwa pygmies. Go with some extra cash in case you want to get souvenirs. Return for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kihihi airstrip for a scheduled flight back to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight. End of 4 days Uganda gorilla safari.
