If interested, a city tour usually grants you a chance to tour the Kigali genocide memorial site, religious sites like churches and mosques and the famous Kimironko market.

Transfer to Volcanoes national park which is tucked in the north-western part of Rwanda, roughly 2-3 hours’ drive from the capital city. This covers dos and don’ts while tracking the gentle giants, including no littering, keeping safe distance, not using flash cameras, low voices and limiting sudden movements in the presence of these creatures.

After this, you will be allocated a group of 8 people and gorilla family you will track. With this done you will get on the track into misty jungle on the foothills of Virunga Mountains. Trek until you meet the gorillas, an experience that takes up to 8 hours but depends on the distance gorilla family have covered since last seen.

Locating these magnificent beasts is an exciting part on its own. Navigate through tricky trails, defeat shrubs and thickets but the reward is worth the entire struggle. Once you meet with the gorillas you are only permitted an hour to be amidst them. Be camera-ready to capture as many moments as possible since they never fail to deliver amusement, awe and more as they groom, feed, mating and silverbacks protecting their territory.

After a one hour of happiness, return to the park headquarters and transfer back to your reserved lodging. End your afternoon after lunch and evening in relaxation as you recover from the arduous event of tracking gorillas. Have an early dinner and spend the evening as you wish.
